Description

Date: Monday, April 8, 2019  at 10 AM CT (11 AM ET)

Title: Live Webcast: Treatment of PAD with Exercise Therapy

Speakers: Dr. Peter Monteleone

The presentation will begin with the epidemiology and natural history of PAD.  The pathophysiology will be explored followed by discussion of the severe morbidity and mortality of the disease.  We will then discuss the robust evidence supporting exercise therapy as a treatment modality, with success often matching performance of revascularization procedures.  We will conclude with discussion of the challenges we face as a community to spread utilization of this important treatment modality.

Learning Objectives

1.) Understand the natural history of PAD including the severity of its associated morbidity and mortality.
2.) Understand the mechanism by which exercise therapy improves clinical outcomes in PAD.
3.) Prepare for the challenges we face as a community to spread utilization of this important therapy.
